Mike Morningstar has sung and played in public since 1964 and has been a musical landmark in West Virginia since his 1972 release of "Buffalo Creek," the story of the mine disaster of the same name.

A student and player of diverse musical styles, he credits Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Kingston Trio and Gospel music as his influences. His own music has been called "street folk," drawing from his experiences as a carpenter, brickmason and farmer, and his one-man show never fails to get the entire room up flat-footing all night.

He plays his concert stages too, opening for acts as diverse as John Hartford, Pure Prairie League, Doc Watson, Vince Gill and Goose Creek Symphony.
