Joe Dobbs can be heard on a number of CDs available from Fiddletunes.com, including his latest, "Fiddle and The Flood," which offers up a grand selection of standards from "Star Dust" to "Georgia on My Mind."

Joe plays remarkable twin fiddle with the incomparable Buddy Griffin on his "Friends, Fiddles and Favorites" album.

And if you have a taste for more traditional mountain tunes, check out his 1979 recording, "Joe Dobbs Plays Old Time Fiddle Tunes."

Besides these, Joe also is heard with his band, The 1937 Flood, on its debut album, "The Band, Not the Natural Disaster" and on The 1937 Flood Plays Up a Storm, which features "Music from the Mountains Sets You Free," the theme song the boys wrote for Joe's weekly "Music from the Mountains" broadcast on W.Va. Public Radio.

Joe Dobbs was born in Mississippi and grew up listening to his grandfather play the fiddle. Joe took up the instrument himself when still a child.

He moved his family to West Virginia in 1967. Joe has been involved in the Mountain State's folk music scene for the past 30 years as a fiddler, recording artist, instructor and lecturer.

The Hurricane, W.Va., resident also is well known to the entire state as the popular host of West Virginia Public Radio's weekly "Music From the Mountains" show, which airs every Friday night. He also established "Fret 'n' Fiddle" in St. Albans, W.Va., one of the state's best known music stores.

In addition to performing at festivals and universities in the United States and Canada, Joe has travelled extensively with his music. His travels include tours of Africa, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe performing Appalachian Traditional Folk Music.

In addition to being a stand-out solo performer, Joe also is a founding member of The 1937 Flood, which bills itself as "West Virginia's most eclectic string band."
