Reflections of the Past
Frank George and David O'Dell
Frank
George and David O'Dell have been playing
together since before their days in the Cedar
Point String Band. This album was recorded as a "field
project" at David's parents' house in Roane County, W.Va.,
and features a selection of tunes learned from ancestors and friends.
Frank learned this version of "Liza Poor Girl" and two
other tunes on the album from his grandfather, William Washington
George. There are also stories to be shared here. For instance,
the late Henry Reed of Mercer County told Frank he learned this
version of "Over the Waterfall" from a steam calliope
in a circus parade.
