The Cedar Point String Band
It
was about 20 years ago when the legendary Cedar Point String Band
formed. Banjo player David O'Dell and fiddler
Frank George had been playing together for
a couple years when they were joined by the late, great Kanawha
County guitarist Bob Roark.
The
group played festivals, square dances and parties, making memories
throughout central West Virginia. But just months after this album
was recorded in 1983, the band had its last performance as the musicians
went separate ways.
"Frank
and I still play together every now and then," David said recently,
"but the music we made in the early 1980s as The Cedar Point
String Band lives mainly in our memories, our hearts and souls --
and on this recording."
