The 1937 Flood Plays Up a Storm

The 1937 Flood

"The 1937 Flood is a group of six West Virginia pickers playing whatever makes 'em happy," says Dirty Linen magazine. "That's fine by me, especially when the mix includes old-time and hot-club jazz with some jug band chestnuts thrown in for good fun. The group does fine versions of 'Alabama Jubilee' and 'Lady Be Good.' Other covers are as diverse as 'Sail Away Ladies' and 'Rag Mama.'"

This is the second CD by the group called "West Virginia's most eclectic string band." Among the album's featured tracks is "Music from the Mountains Sets You Free," the theme song the boys wrote for Joe Dobbs' weekly "Music from the Mountains" broadcast on W.Va. Public Radio.
