Artist with the Bow
Mike Humphreys
"Mike
Humphreys' style was smooth and rolling, with the very technical
noting and bowing techniques," says his long-time admirer,
fiddler Bobby Taylor. "The soul and
spirit would leave audiences in total amazement or with tears of
admiration. Few fiddlers in history had both the technique and soul
that Mike displayed."
For
more than 40 years, Bobby and other Humphreys' fans have wanted
a professional recording of Mike's music. Until now, all they had
was what was captured on little tape recorders. While this disc
is not the result of a professional recoridng session, it has come
about from the restoration of those home recordings.
"This
recording," says Taylor, will be cherished by those of us who
have always loved his music... Fellow fiddlers have been amazed
by his fiddling for decades and now everyone can finally see why."
