Fiddle Tunes from Central West Virginia
Wilson Douglas
"When
I pick up the fiddle I play it from the heart, the way I want to
and the way it does me good. If you study a fiddler up close you
can almost read his life, all his sorrows, all his happiness. There's
a lot of things I could've been, but I'm not and I'm not going to
worry about them."
That's
how the late Wilson Douglas described
his art to Goldenseal Magazine in 1977.
And
here's Wilson's legacy: 31 memorial tunes, from "Elzic's Farewell"
and "Leather Britches" to "Sweet 16" and "Cotton-Eyed
Joe."
