Friends, Fiddles & Favorites
Joe Dobbs & Buddy Griffin
Joe
Dobbs and Buddy Griffin have been friends
for decades now, and form a remarkable mutual admiration society
that is, frankly, unique in the fiddling world. So when they come
together to produce a twin fiddle album, watch out! This is a wonderfully
warm collaboration.
Joe
Dobbs was born in Mississippi, where his grandfather also was a
fiddler. Joe moved to West Virginia in 1967 and has been involved
in folk music there for 30 years as a fiddler, recording artist,
instructor and lecturer.
Buddy
Griffin is from Sutton, W.Va. Impressed by the style of network
radio performers in the late 1950s, and consumed by the acoustic
folk music boom in the 1960s, Buddy decided early in life that he
wanted to be a professional musician. Although his first instrument
was the banjo, he plays fiddle, guitar, bass, mandolin, Autoharp
and other stringed instruments. In fact, Buddy plays all the parts
on this album except for Joe's fiddle parts!
