Cold Frosty Morning
Melvin Wine
Melvin
Wine has been playing the traditional fiddle tunes of Braxton
County, W.Va., for more than 80 years, starting in 1921 when he
was 12. His teacher was his father, Robert, who leanred from his
father, Nels, and grandfather, Smithy. Nels never played fiddled,
but sang the dance tunes learned from Smithy's playing.

notes and photos as well as an update on the Wine family.
Heard
accompanying Melvin on this recording are his sons Grafton on banjo
