Lefty's Favorites
Lefty Shafer
Lefty
Shafer, a native of Roane County, W.Va., retired in 1976 after
16 years as a school principal. At the time, he began refining his
fiddling techniques and entering contests. He has since placed in
more than 350 contests in West Virginia and its border states as
well as in Tennesee, Michigan, Indiana, Georgia and Alabama.
But
it's not only contests that occupy Lefty's time. He's also long
been a regular at such Mountain State events at the Stonewall Jackson
Jubilee, the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair in Ripley, the West
Virginia State Folk Festival in Glenville and the Vandalia Gathering
in Charleston.
Here
is a collection of more than two dozen classic Lefty Shafer standards.
