 Buddy
Griffin, a Sutton, W.Va., native, grew up impressed by the style
of network radio performers in the late 1950s. Also consumed by
the acoustic folk music boom in the 1960s, Buddy decided early in
life that he wanted to be a professional musician.
Although his
first instrument was the banjo, he plays fiddle, guitar, bass, mandolin,
Autoharp and other stringed instruments.
Buddy graduated
with a bachelor of arts degree in education. Shortly after college,
Buddy became the staff banjo and fiddle player for WWVA's Jamboree
USA in Wheeling, W.Va. During his career, Buddy has performed at
bluegrass festivals throughout the United States and Canada with
such artists as Bill Monroe, Mother Maybelle Carter, Mac Wiseman
and the Goins Brothers and Jim & Jesse McReynolds.
